A downloadable game for Windows
I wanted to learn Unreal Engine 5 by trying to clone some of my favorite childhood games. I decided to start with Contra which was one of my favorite games on the NES. My main goal was to clone one level of the game, good enough that I can share it with others to play.
So here is the result :)

Sorry, I don't understand your comment. Can you explain in more detail?
you most likely used version 5AE to create a project of engine version 5.4, which is why I could not open the project
If you have it, can you try to open it? and tell me what version of the engine you use for this
I don't remember the engine version but to clarify, this is a packaged build, so you don't need to open it in the UE Editor. You should run it directly as a standalone game.
If you're having trouble with runing the game itself, it might be because some prerequisites aren't installed on your system. Try making sure you have:
- The latest DirectX Runtime
- The latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables
- Up-to-date graphics drivers
